Food poverty and youth work – A community response

چکیده

This article discusses the findings of a small-scale study investigating impact food poverty on youth work in community based open access settings. It documents growing role deprived communities and explores workers play addressing it. Firstly this ‘community response’ addresses issue localities where it arises. However, not only meets basic needs, but also helps build social capital by enacting important relationships associated with ‘eating together’. Such responses have potential to combat stigma abjection through creation critical consciousness political education. The research highlights need for greater coordination response centres be less isolated from other services. Finally, legacy policy within is highlighted, previously dominated focus healthy eating since Every Child Matters (2003). Post austerity, many concern simply ‘eating’!
